Phones at the ready. There’s a new cherry-blossom-covered pop-up coming to town and if you don’t want Instagram-induced fomo, you’d better make it your new watering hole.
Japanese restaurant Roka has covered its subterranean interior with a canopy of fresh blossoms. Basking in the transient beauty of flowers, a practice known in Japan as hanami, is made that much more exciting by the sakura-inspired cocktail menu. Sip on a Kyuri Highball, made with rice shochu and soda, a Sakura Sour (a peach and whisky combo) or the sherry and plum-infused saké and whisky concoction that is the restaurant’s take on an Old Fashioned. We also recommend eyeing up Roka’s impeccably designed food menu, if you can tear yourself and your phone away from the pretty flowers.
Cherry blossom season is at Roka Charlotte Street, 37 Charlotte St, W1T 1RR. Apr 26-Jun 7.
In other news, Trash Tiki is bringing cocktails made from waste to Shoreditch’s Curtain hotel.
And you can get half-price food at Dirty Bones in Soho this week.
