A chicken shop on Holloway Road plans to start selling avocado fries in an attempt to attract a higher calibre of customers and put a stop to drunken antics. Yep, this might just be peak avocado.

Sam's Chicken in Islington closed down almost two years ago after a string of problems including an incident where someone threw a brick at one of the staff when they refused to give him an extra chicken wing. But now the chicken shop is putting its troubled past behind it and having a much-needed re-brand.

They're planning to give the menu an overhaul and serve up chicken wings and strips, burgers, salads, and avocado or sweet potato fries. They've also applied for an alcohol licence – because, as everyone knows, drinking a glass of sauvignon blanc with your fried chicken adds instant class. But locals aren't happy about the plans for the troublesome chicken shop to start serving booze.

Nirosh Fernando, from parent company A&S Fast Foods, said the chicken shop is 'an entirely different project' and will be re-named ‘Samuel’s’ or ‘Ministry of Chicken’ to go with its classy new image.

But will the promise of avocado fries reassure worried locals and stop drunken idiots throwing bricks around? Sure, avocado's a superfood, but it's not a miracle worker.

We lift the lid on London's obsession with fried chicken

And which is better - trendy fried chicken or the cheapo stuff?
