It's been a turbulent time since the EU referendum result was announced almost two weeks ago, so it's refreshing to see that some people haven't totally forgotten how to be nice. An anonymous resident in Hackney has taken it upon themselves to make migrants feel welcome in London with a simple gesture.

They've left a bucket of roses and carnations on the roof of a houseboat on the River Lea, near Hackney Marshes, with a note encouraging migrants to take a flower. It reads: 'If you are a migrant to the UK, please take a flower and know you are welcome here!'. Lovely stuff.
