It's less than a month since Sadiq Khan was voted in as the new Mayor of London and he's already made plans to introduce a bus 'hopper' ticket and confirmed a new start date for the night tube. But now he's turning his attention to London's bridges with a project called 'The Illuminated River'. This city isn't exactly short on bridges, but Sadiq reckons they could do with sprucing up. Or being lit up, at least.

He's calling on artists, designers, engineers, architects and technologists to come up with ideas to create a permanent light installation across 17 London bridges, spanning between Albert Bridge in Chelsea and Tower Bridge in the City. Sure, it might not be as practical as the hopper ticket or the night tube, but hey, it'll look pretty.
