Its open windows facing the Front Line Brixton Ltd grocery store across Atlantic Road, the Lounge offers a relaxed retreat amid buzzy Brixtonia.
By day it deals mainly in food, serving own-made burgers, all-day breakfasts, toasted panini and the like, along with a simple, inexpensive kids’ menu. Come the evening, things shift up a gear, with fried plantain, salt-fish fritters and spicy chicken wings among the small plates, plus sharing platters, grills and salads.
By then drinks will have come to the fore, including cocktails (£5-£6.50), such as the Loungin’ Beauty of brandy, red vermouth and ruby port.
The entertainment schedule is more varied, incorporating monthly Brixton-themed film screenings, occasional music sessions and rotating exhibitions.
