This episode in the ongoing gentrification of Dalston arrived at the same time as the East London Line extension, appropriate for a venue that lacks the kind of edge that defines so many neighbouring bars. It’s deliberate, we think; at any rate, it’s a worthwhile change from the norm in E8.
Done out in smart, faintly industrial fashion with a nice window on to the street, the Junction Room is a casual café-cum-diner during the day, dispensing burgers and other comfort-food staples to the locals. After dark, the kitchen’s still open, but you can also choose from a short cocktail list and a few beers and wines. DJs deliver a soundtrack at weekends.
