This Mayfair bar was, until recently, a short-lived attempt at an izakaya – a Japanese take on a pub where drinking takes place in equal measure to the dining. The new owners behind this have spent the last six months giving the place a refurb, and now it's all about British small plates and craft beer.
That means a menu ranging from home-baked bread with olives and bacon jam to octopus with piquillo peppers, burnt shallots and fennel, a smoked mackerel mousse with pressed cucumber and a rump of Welsh lamb with fresh peas and broad beans. Desserts include lemon tart, creamed chocolate mousse and a home-baked cake of the day, with ice cream and fresh berries.
The craft beer list is strong, with options such as Hammerton N7 Pale Ale, Portobello London Pilsner, Big Hug Hibernation White IPA and Beavertown Gamma Ray. There's a house lager on offer, too.
