A rather unexpected find in the nightlife desert of Earl’s Court, Miss Q’s pitches itself as a rock ’n’ roll pool joint and an unapologetic shrine to Americana. While a trio of pristine pool tables take centre stage (and are responsible for the name of the venue), the sizeable subterranean vault also features two bars, a kitsch flashing dancefloor, a pinball den and a stage for occasional live music.
The drinks include Zatec, a snappy Czech beer, and Grolsch Weizen, a Dutch wheat beer; surprisingly, given the American theme, they’re the pick of the beer pumps. Ample servings of US tucker – ribs, burgers and so on – are available, and all at less than a tenner.
DJs play at weekends; one Saturday was advertised as ‘a night of rockabilly, classic rock, ’80s classics, chart toppers and commercial dance’, which sounds like the most bet-hedging club in history.
