Please note, First Floor is now closed. Time Out Food & Drink Editors, July 2017.
A certain kind of west London bohemian generally lands here, the moneyed professional rather than the cadging layabout.
The tone of this cosmopolitan drinkerie and eaterie is set by the entrance: a revolving door, which gives the place the feel of an international hotel lobby. It’s a bright, colourful place, buzzy on occasion, with punters getting stuck into a drinks list including Estrella, Stowford Press, Guinness, Freedom Pilsner, Bombardier and Erdinger, along with wines and cocktails.
The bar snacks are superior – triple-cooked chips, mini Cumberland sausages – but the real culinary action is in the restaurant upstairs, from which this ground-floor bar takes its needlessly confusing name.
