Forget burgers and hotdogs – the food offering at this 10-day music festival at Hampton Court Palace (aka Henry VIII’s old gaff) is much more exciting. Street food traders will be serving up everything from Himalayan dumplings to Greek souvlaki and gyros. Alternatively, you can pre-order a luxury picnic basket filled with artisan food. Of course, you’re not just there for the food – with acts like Paloma Faith, Nile Rodgers & CHIC and Tom Jones, there’s something for everyone.

This annual celebration of all things carnivorous is a mecca for meat lovers. Every year, Meatopia takes over Tobacco Dock in Shadwell for a weekend of incredible, meaty dishes cooked on open flames by talented chefs. The 2024 line-up hasn’t been announced yet, but last year saw chefs from Lagom, The Quality Chop House and Bleecker Burger, so you can expect more great things this year. Come hungry – and wear your stretchiest trousers.

Step back in time at Cahoots, a 1940s-inspired bar in Carnaby’s Kingly Court that looks like an abandoned train station. Every Saturday, this speakeasy bar is hosting a new event, Cahoots Black Market Knees-Up, which includes live music, a 1940s quiz and games. In keeping with the 40s vibe, you can expect 'rationed snacks'.
Every Saturday

There’s nothing like the jazz music of New Orleans, but you don’t have to hop on a transatlantic flight to experience it. On May 22, Dom Pipkin, a British pianist known for his New Orleans-style jazz, blues and funk, is performing at Nightjar Carnaby. This cocktail bar in central London promises a cosy evening of incredible music – and banging cocktails to go with it (our order is a classic Hendrick's Gin and tonic).

Calling all carb-lovers – this three-day sandwich festival is for you. Setting up shop in Camden Town Brewery Beer Hall, this epic sarnie celebration promises some big names in the sandwich game, including Dom’s Subs, Ruben’s Reuben’s and Mondo Sando. But save room for dessert – Happy Endings has got that covered with its ace ice cream sandwiches. Tickets include three sandwiches and a beer or soft drink. Brace yourself for the inevitable carb coma.

If your go-to order at the bar is a G&T (and why wouldn’t it be?), then get ready to celebrate your favourite tipple on World Gin Day on June 8. It’s not just G&Ts, either – London isn’t short of great bars shaking up all kinds of creative gin cocktails using Hendrick's Gin. Not sure where to start? You can’t go wrong with award-winning bars Swift, Nightjar and Lyaness.

Have the patches of wild garlic springing up all over London’s green spaces (and your Instagram feed) got you feeling inspired to start foraging? Learn more from the pros at Forage London, which runs classes in the city to help you understand all about the plants that grow here. The classes involve going for a stroll in one of London’s parks with a Forage London expert, and sampling wild plants as you go, as well as taking some home to cook with.
