Whitehall Plain

Part of Epping Forest, this open plain between Chingford and Buckhurst Hill is a patch of rural tranquility. Leafy clumps of woodland, a beautiful lake and winding waterways make for some atmospheric forest walks, while the grassy clearings in between are perfect picnic spots on sunny days. Bring your binoculars to glimpse the area’s rich bird and butterfly populations - see if you can spot the resident woodpeckers.
