Stoke Newington’s facelift sees a new entrance hall, along with the restoration of the Assembly Hall and Council Chamber to their Art Deco glory – complete with original gold cornicing, wood paneling and vaulted domed ceiling. The Assembly Hall’s sprung Canadian maple dance floor is one of the best examples in England. Tours of the building take place as part of Open House London weekend, in September.
