Time Out says

The oldest of three churches of St Botolph in the City, this handsome monument was built at the gates of Roman London as a homage to and to ask the intercession of the patron saint of travellers. The building was reconstructed by George Dance in 1744 and a beautiful ornamental ceiling was added in the 19th century by John Francis Bentley, who also created Westminster Cathedral.
