It might seem ghoulish to follow in the footsteps of Victorian London’s most horrible crimes, but the events surrounding the serial killer Jack the Ripper hold as much fascination now as they did a hundred years ago. No doubt their dark appeal is considerably strengthened by the fact that the real life murderer was never found, leaving the story open for us all to attempt to solve ourselves.
In fact, the first Jack the Ripper tours were being taken around the streets of east London just a few years after the attacks took place, and the stories have abounded in print and on screen ever since.
On this Jack the Ripper tour you can visit sites related to the Ripper legend and hear the gruesome details of each murder, along with stories of the five sorry victims: Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly.
If your fascination goes further, visit the Jack the Ripper Museum on Cable Street, too.
