Tom Johnson: Merthyr Rising

This free photography exhibition captures the residents of the ex-mining town of Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. Shot over this summer with stylist and Merthyr native Charlotte James, the London-based photographer Tom Johnson documented the vibrant characters of the town in an attempt to readdress the misconceptions of the working class community that’s been blighted by hardship since the closure of the mines in the 1980s.
