Arancio creates a trippy Jules Verne-like world of melting mountains and anthropomorphised volcanic rock. In photographs of the alps, craggy black outcroppings reach out to the sky. Around the gallery, sculptural blobs of multi-coloured igneous extrusions twist into alien forms. In video pieces, distant planets spin and rumble and prehistoric humans creep across rough, convulsing landscapes. It’s a bizarre, psychedelic world where geological phenomena mutate, grow and shape-shift into semi-living constructions.
