To inaugurate her new 3,000 sq ft space, Sadie Coles presents Stingel’s new paintings of animals across both galleries. The New York-based artist who was born in Merano, Italy has used painting to question its its representative and transformative qualities. Here, Stingel appropriates images of animals in their natural, wild habitats from a vintage German calendar, rendering them in oil on identically-sized canvases to consider the durational aspect of painting.
