Nate Lowman: Downtown is a Construct

For his third exhibition at Massimo de Carlo, American artist Nate Lowman has turned his attention close to home, or rather, to his Manhattan studio – specifically its ceiling. These paintings not only depict the provisional pipes, lights and plasterwork that cover the ceiling, but also cast a wider look at the change and redevelopment that has taken place in this part of New York City.
