If you've ever wanted to snoop round the studio of a modernist master, here's your chance. Barcelona gallery Mayoral is bringing to London a display of furniture, painting materials and household items, as well as 25 drawings and paintings, from the studio of Catalan artist Joan Miró. Miró (1893-1983), whose life was bookended by national and international conflicts, from two world wars through to student riots and the rise and fall of 40 years of fascist dictatorship in his native Spain, settled in Mallorca in 1956 and quickly established a purpose-built modernist studio at his home on the outskirts of Palma, working there tirelessly for the next quarter of a century. Now part of the La Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró, the studio remains pretty much as Miró left it at the time of his death in 1983, which isn't to say that it resembles the work space of an old man. Full of effervescent experiments in paint, as well as quirky objects, it shows that Miró remained joyfully inventive until the very end of his long life.
