Time Out says

In 1952 Freud eloped with 22-year-old Guinness heiress Lady Caroline Blackwood to Paris. Caroline proved the archetypal muse for Freud with her big, grey-blue doe-eyes, heart-shaped face and pale complexion. At the time his portraits of her were considered ‘brutal’. Here, Freud’s early works including ‘Girl in Bed’ (pictured) and ‘Girl Reading’, made during the six years of their relationship reveal intimate and tender renditions of their tempestuous bond.
