Akseli Gallen Kallela was a leading figure in modern Finish painting. Working at the turn of the century, by the mid-1890s he had become obsessed with the epic of 'Kalevala': a poem which celebrated the mythical origins of ancient Finland. This exhibition is an odyssey of Nordic landscape that unites four enormous, and very different, paintings of Lake Keitele, to the North of Helsinki.
