This American artist’s rough charcoal drawings of nature are like lost views of some Jurassic forest. Hodges is clearly obsessed with flora and fauna, and manages to turn the act of painting outdoors into a totally pleasant exercise in abstraction. The two paintings on show are even better than the drawings, like a window on to an abstracted American forest glade. There’s a big white sculpture that looks like a petrified tree too. Hodges’s world is a nice one to be in for a while. You just wish there was more here so that you could get totally lost.
