A single, vast sound mural from 1968, ‘Murale Panorámico Vibrante Sonoro’, will take over the entire Cecilia Brunson Projects gallery for this exhibition of Venezuelan artist Jesús Rafael Soto’s work. The sound element arises when the metal rods in the installation are touched, producing vibrations – a video of Soto ‘playing’ the mural will accompany the main exhibition. This innovative mural also marked a key moment in Soto’s career, as it allowed him to break free from the confines of more traditional artistic practices, resulting in an abstract but absorbing work.
