Locke transports you back to 1962 when HMS Belfast’s crew prepared to partake in Trinidad’s Carnival. However, the events evoked through costumed mannequins are a complete fallacy. HMS Belfast did travel to Trinidad during the Cold War ahead of them gaining independence from Britain, but the ship arrived three months before Carnival. Locke’s fanciful fabrication considers an alternative history, one of uncanny festivities during a time of uncertainty.
