This exhibition honours four artists who were crucial in the development of post-war European abstraction. It’s the first time the Hungarian-born Simon Hantaï work has been shown in the capital, known for his technique of folding painted canvases to create irregular pattern formations are presented alongside Han Hartung’s large-scale roller brushed canvases, Pierre Soulages’s thickly applied acrylic’s and Antoni Tàpies’s whimsical obsessions with using non conventional painting materials.
