The early terracotta works of the late American artist, Hannah Wilke (1940 – 1993) are presented here with installations from the ‘80s along with examples of her performative photographs. Delicately coloured ceramics, deftly folded like Chinese fortune cookies are organised in strict formation, bringing order to the organic sculptures. These are offset by Wilke’s lesser-known photographic ‘California Series’ of photographs that capture her chewing gum sculptures stuck on foliage.
