Glamour of the Gods: Hollywood Portraits

Advertising

Time Out says

Around 70 vintage portraits from the John Kobal Foundation. The photographs span 40 years of Hollywood history, including portraits of Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Vivien Leigh, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Joan Collins, many not shown before in the UK. Exploring the tightly-controlled Hollywood studio system between 1920 and 1960, the show includes portraits and film scene stills – which were used as cinema lobby cards and posters – by David Boulton, one of the few British photographers to work for the Hollywood studios, Ruth Harriet Louise, the only woman to run a studio photo gallery, and others.
