The Guyanese artist, a pioneer of the Scratch Video movement in the 1980s, presents new video works in a specially conceived installation about the global issue of displaced people. With over 50 million refugees around the world, Barber uses found footage along with re-enactments of a migrants daily plight to highlight the experience of seeking a better life. ‘Basement Pool’ a video about affluent neighborhoods undergoing renovation starkly illustrates the dichotomy between First World Problems and Global tragedies.
