Moroccan artisans, using traditional materials like bone, goatskin and tin have crafted replica components of a Mercedes-Benz V12 engine. Why? Well Abdeslam Laraki, who designed the ‘Laraki Fulgara’, Morocco’s first high-performance sports car, didn’t use Moroccan craftsmen and instead opted to import the Mercedes-Benz engine. Ornate and intricately delicate, the pieces, commissioned by the Algerian artist, question employing crafts skill in our Post-Fordist times.
