Initially used in a scientific context, the term Elective Affinities was adopted by Goethe as a metaphor for social bonds being shaped by the laws of chemical affinity. This exhibition features a group of sculptures by 12 artists, which investigates the relationship between the works and their sources. Melding physical properties with the continuity of meaning through object and replica, the sculptures bring to the foreground the ideas and processes that led to their creation.
