Always angry, never boring, US artists Ed and Nancy Kienholz are best known for installations and sculptural assemblages that reproduce in tableaux form the ugly truths of modern life – including illegal abortion, prostitution, racism and mental illness. In preparation for these life-size works, the husband-and-wife team made smaller collages , which they referred to as 'drawings', and it's these that form the bulk of this show, which comes from the collection of the Kienholz's friends and patrons, Betty and Monte Factor.
