Commissioned as part of Lewisham’s year as London Borough of Culture, this striking new public artwork will go on display close to the South Circular Road. Created by artist Dryden Goodwin, it will depict his five-year-old son inhaling and exhaling to highlight the ever more pressing need for climate change action. In the process, it pays tribute to Lewisham resident Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, who tragically died at age nine. Her mother Rosamund later campaigned successfully for air pollution to be included on Ella’s death certificate to acknowledge the adverse effects of air pollution on her daughter’s health.
