In the Poetry and Dream displays of the Tate Modern, Polish artist Paulina Olowska has created a domestic space that becomes activated on selected nights for special performances. By day ‘The Mother An Unsavoury Play in Two Acts and an Epilogue’ features furniture, wallpaper and Olowska own collages, which hang next to works from the collection including paintings by Meredith Frampton, Dora Carrington and Henri Matisse. By night the installation is activated by performers enacting a dysfunctional relationship between mother and son.
