The artist adapted her approach to portrait photography during and since her residency at the Freud Museum. Taking Freud’s daughter, Anna Freud’s archive as her starting point, von Zwehl explored the concept of friendship and the bond between women, which resulted in her series, ‘Laments’ that depicted female sitters as black silhouettes. ‘Sospiri’ is a new installation piece that uses repetition to question individuality and loss.
