Patrick Brill, aka Bob and Roberta Smith makes polemical artworks about the democratic importance of art and most recently campaigning for better art education. His affinity with that of William Morris who believed in the equality of the arts, makes this exhibition of his campaign works and new pieces including a specially commissioned film ‘ Art is Your Human Right: Why can’t politics be more fun?’ at the William Morris Gallery most apt. Here, Bob and Roberta Smith will be asking not only the prospective 2016 mayoral candidates but also us the public to get on board his ‘Morrisian Pledges’ that art is fundamental for all.
