Adam Neate’s work directly challenges the concept of a 2D painting. Though he seems to return to the darker palette and atmosphere of his earlier 3D cardboard works, his newest works also present a radical experiment with perspective, space and sculptural form. When viewing his paintings, be sure to try shifting your vantage point—this will activate your ‘viewing space’, such as watching the expression on a face change from grimace to a scream, or the interaction of an embracing couple.
