Time Out says

This gallery-studio aims to bring art produced by artists affected by mental health issues closer to the community, and it has found a home in Now, a coworking space in Beato. Manicómio is spacious and, laid out on wooden tables, close at hand, you’ll find clay pieces by Anabela Soares – the artist exorcises her fears, troubles and anxieties through monsters and carved words. In the creative process, her mind mostly follows her hands’ command. But she’s not the only one. Francisco Gromicho, Pedro Ventura and Cláudia Sampaio also find catharsis through creation, using photography, writing, drawing, or whatever feels right. It is open to the general public from Monday to Friday. Manicómio loves welcoming visitors, and there is plenty of room to sit and work or simply watch the resident artists work while you have a coffee.
