When the ‘Royal Shop’ opened some four years ago the idea behind it was to showcase the best buys in the city – in fashion, home furnishings, toys and gadgets. It also has a café (with marvellous bagels, we should stress). The stock has broadened out over time, so that nowadays you might find lamps and textiles, espadrilles and men’s shoes, cuddly toys and swimwear for kids, and even handboards for bodysurfing.
