Loja do Burel

Burel is a material made from compacted wool, long used by shepherds in the Serra da Estrela, Portugal's highest mountain range, to protect them from cold, wet winters. The capes, jackets and bags sold here are made in one of the last remaining factories in the hill town of Manteigas, in both traditional and colourful new designs. The shop also stocks herbs and other food items from the Serra da Estrela, helping to preserve the culture of a unique region.
