This place serves dainty (and cheap) portions of hearty dishes from Trás-os-Montes in north-eastern Portugal: entremeada de coentrada (spare ribs in coriander sauce), mushrooms with chouriço, potato-and-onion tortilla and the like, plus of course the divine posta à Mirandesa (tender beef from Miranda do Douro). There are also unusual toasted sandwiches such as wild mushrooms, alheira sausage with vegetables, or cheese with almonds and honey. You can buy products to take away, including hams and cheeses, botelo (a giant pork sausage unique to the region), licor de abrunho (sloeberry liqueur), honey from Vimioso and flagons of fine olive oil.
