Everyday there is a new special in Maravilhas ("wonders"), a restaurant that Luísa and Carlos Tavares have lead for ten years, but whose history goes back to 1936. Ms. Ermelinda has been the cook for 33 years, and she is in charge of preparing the dishes that sell out every day - regulars know they have to call in advance to reserve the day's specials. Those include "cozido" boiled stew on Wednesdays and octopus fillets and rice on Fridays. The true wonder is that this home-style cooking rarely results in a bill higher than 10 euros.
