The new Hotel Hotel has opened its doors to the city with Animal, a restaurant designed to be an oasis. It offers late afternoon cocktails and a menu diverse enough to please everyone. Before you even look at the menu, the space makes a strong impression – comfy sofas, Instagram-worthy neon signs, seating for 80 people, and a tropical vibe that fills the room. You can’t help but notice the outdoor area: a back patio with a pool, a deck with sun loungers for hotel guests, and a thriving vertical garden.
But let’s focus on what matters most: the food. The sushi counter at the entrance, the well-stocked bar and the open kitchen hint at a variety of dishes. Animal’s menu serves up everything from light, plant-based meals to aged meat. There’s also a nod to world cuisines, including Japanese, Italian, and Peruvian dishes. The menu is crafted by Carlos Soares, who left the beachside restaurant at Vila Joya in Albufeira to come to Lisbon and create this eclectic menu.
