Beets

It's the best of both worlds: hip-hop from O 36, a bar in Bairro Alto, and food from Vegan Junkies, a vegan fast food restaurant near Campo dos Mártires da Pátria. The two projects continue separately, but now have this joint venture at number 9, Rua da Oliveira ao Carmo, with both a restaurant, Plant Base, and a bar, Beets. At the restaurant, try their oven-made pizzas (from €6 to €12) or, if not in the mood for a slice, go for any of their other dishes, all vegan. The bar, Beets, follows the same concept as O 36, with “hip-hop and urban art taking over the space”, say those behind the project. The space is decorated with a colourful mural by AKA Corleone, “with some 36 hints and other details” that were also imported from O 36. As for the drinks, there are signature cocktails inspired by hip-hop artists, as well as a partnership with Fritz Kola and “other refreshing goodies”. Over the weekends there are live-acts by DJs, between 7pm and 10.30pm. A breath of cool air.
