Arcade Fire, Dua Lipa and Pearl Jam lead the 16th edition of NOS Alive, returning to Passeio Marítimo de Algés on July 11, 12 and 13. Supporting acts include Smashing Pumpkins, Tyla and Sum 41, but it’s worth delving beyond the headline acts, especially as The Breeders celebrate 30 years of their classic album Last Splash. Our guide ensures you won’t miss a thing, big or small. Check out the full lineup below.

When do the festival doors open?
Doors open at 3pm. There’s a high chance it will be hot, so make use of the water points throughout the festival and stay hydrated. And don’t worry, the fun goes on until late – the venue doesn’t close until 4am.
How much do the tickets cost? Are there any left?
The third and final day of the festival (July 13) has been sold out for a while. The likely culprit is Pearl Jam and the crowd that flocks to their concerts whenever the band plays in Portugal. That means there’s also no passes for this day left either. But there are daily tickets left for July 11 and 12 (€79), and two-day passes too (€158).
What can I bring to the venue? Are there prohibited items?
Indeed. The list is long: firearms/knives, dangerous objects (pocket knives, any type of weapon, chains, belts, spiked bracelets), explosive materials and pyrotechnic material, reusable metal or aluminum bottles, cans, glass cups, drinks, syringes, drugs, selfie sticks, rigid masters, xenophobic or violence-inciting messages, lunch boxes, containers, any type and form of chairs, metal chains, lanterns, lasers and flashlights, helmets, speakers, musical instruments, sound recorders, food boxes, professional or detachable lens cameras and camcorders, animals, glass objects (bottles, perfumes), umbrellas, suitcases, any object that can be thrown. This enumeration is provided by the promoter, Everything Is New.
More importantly, what you should bring: sunscreen already applied, a hat, and a jacket – no matter how hot it is during the day, that pesky evening breeze never fails.
How to get to Passeio Marítimo de Algés
It’s possible to take the car, but this option is for the brave (but very patient) in spirit, and there won’t be enough for everyone. We don’t recommended. The best option is public transportation, of which there is lots. Starting with the train, with the Cascais Line stopping at the venue’s doorstep in Algés. Those with a festival ticket can purchase tickets on the CP with a discount (not only to arrive from Lisbon but also for long journeys from Porto and Coimbra). There is an integrated NOS Alive+CP ticket (learn more here).
Carris buses connect to other points in the city: 723 (Desterro–Algés), 729 (Bairro Padre Cruz–Algés), 750 (Oriente Station–Algés), 751 (Campolide Road–Linda-a-Velha), 776 (Algés–Cruz Quebrada), 15E (Figueira Square–Algés). Normal services of Carris Metropolitano are also available.
How to get back: are there transport options after the concerts?
Yes. On the Cascais Line, the train connects Algés to Cais do Sodré in the early mornings of July 12th, 13th, and 14th at the following times: 2:15 AM, 2:30 AM, 2:45 AM, 3:00 AM, 3:30 AM, 4:00 AM, and 4:30 AM. In the opposite direction, from Algés to Cascais, it departs at 2:15 AM, 2:30 AM, 2:45 AM, 3:00 AM, 3:30 AM, 4:00 AM, and 4:30 AM.
Opting for buses, Carris’ special service has several options departing from the Docapesca park between 1:15 AM and 5:00 AM: the J goes towards Santa Apolónia Station, with stops in Belém, Alcântara, Santos, and Cais do Sodré; the K goes to Marquês de Pombal, stopping at Amoreiras; the L reaches Oriente Station and stops at Benfica Station and Campo Grande. In all of them, it is possible to use any valid transport tickets in the Carris network, with the option to buy the ticket on-site, with cash or card. Then, there are always taxis and TVDE around the venue. But be prepared to wait.
