Cascais em Fado

Fado was born in the streets of Lisbon, and it is the quintessential music of the capital. But this genre, recognized as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, can also be heard elsewhere. In Cascais, for instance, in a restaurant which opens only on Thursdays and Saturdays for dinnertime - in other days of the week, only by appointment and for groups - where fado singers vow to entertain patrons for an evening. Just stop talking as soon as you hear fingers touching strings on a Portuguese guitar, and don’t resume until after the applause dies down.
