Although the Archaeological Museum has been housed in a wing of the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos for more than a century, it has only existed in its current form since 1990. There's too little space to display more than a small proportion of the permanent collection at any one time, but on show are usually an impressive collection of Egyptian artefacts and (often excellent) temporary exhibitions.
