Opera North presents its moving and stylish new production of Verdi’s tragic tale of ill-fated love and family tensions. Set in Paris during la belle époque – ‘the beautiful era’ – young nobleman Alfredo falls in love with tubercular courtesan Violetta and sweeps her away from the debauched underworld she lives in. But Violetta ain’t no Cinderella and not everyone can forget her past so easily…

Sensational performances by South Korean artists, soprano Hye-Youn Lee (Violetta) and tenor Ji-Min Park (Alfredo), coupled with director Alessandro Talevi’s flair for staging, makes for an exciting spectacle.
