Leeds club night ItIsWhatItIs has pulled off quite a coup with guest DJ Doc Martin.
The California-based artist and producer will play the next instalment of IIWII at Distrikt, Duncan Street on Friday September 11, 2015.
Doc Martin began spinning records in San Francisco in 1986 and in the three decades that have followed he has earned the appreciation and respect of many who are fanatical about his style of DJ’ing.
Often referred to as a ‘DJ’s DJ’ Doc has high profile residencies in New York, Washington and LA and makes regular appearances at some of the world’s biggest clubs including DC10, Ibiza and Fabric, London. He is constantly producing and remixing for his own label Sublevel, as well as a whole host of labels across the world, making him one of the most in demand artists and producers there is.
Speaking about his upcoming visit to the city Doc said: 'Leeds has a reputation for having one of the most dynamic and creative house music scenes of any city in the UK - with one of the most up for it crowds! I really enjoy the vibe of smaller intimate venues so this is definitely one party I’m looking forward to.'
IIWII has been responsible for bringing some of the best-loved names in house music to Leeds since the club night began 2008, playing host to the likes of CJ Macintosh, Lovebirds, Claptone, Phil Weeks and Grant Nelson.
Distrikt opens from noon but the evening event is at 9pm-2am and entry is free of charge. Mundros (Diatonic Wave), Dean Creole (Afro.Co) and IIWII residents Ben Colman and Ben Dyl will be getting the floor warmed up from 9pm.
