This year Beacons Metro will swap the lush green fields of North Yorkshire for the urbane nightspots of the North, taking the new form of a series of events across Leeds and Manchester.

Most of the announced events are in Leeds, with the first being at new venue Headrow House.

The opening party on October 2 will feature East India Youth and Ghost Culture, set in the backdrop of an exciting European-style beer hall.

Here are some of our picks from what’s been announced so far. There are still many more events to follow – make sure you follow Beacons Metro on Twitter for the latest news.

Traams with Kagoule, Crushed Beaks and Sauna Youth

Noisy indie garage rockers TRAAMS supported Drenge on their sold out UK tour of 2014. TRAAMS’s latest album Modern Dancing, produced by Hookworms’ frontman MJ, will be released in November.

October 10, 7pm. Headrow House. Free entry.

Clark, Mumdance and Helm

As well as working as a remixer and collaborator with BroadcastBattles and Depeche Mode among many others, Clark is also known for creating complex electronic pieces live with hardware. His latest album Flame Rave gives a nod to 90s-style jungle jams.

This event is presented in conjunction with Recon Festival, a series of intriguing and inspiring musical and artistic performances across Leeds and Bradford.

October 16, 9pm. Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen. Tickets £15.

Everything Everything

Mercury Music Prize-nominated Everything Everything’s sound has been described as 'Timbaland if he cocked an oblique ear to Yes'. The Mancunian four-piece will be heading to Canal Mills in support of their new critically acclaimed album Get To Heaven

October 17, 6pm. Canal Mills. Tickets £17.50.

Son Lux, Golden Teacher and Galaxians

Music blog Consequence of Sound describe Son Lux’s music as 'the dark, operatic middle ground between Owen Pallett and In Rainbows-era Radioheador Wild Beasts fantastic, operatic heights'. He is also a member of the group Sisyphus, with Serengeti and Sufjan Stevens

Golden Teacher hail from Glasgow and are masters of hypnotic, polyrhythmic, deeply danceable dub-disco jams. Signed to the influential Optimo label, they recently toured with New York no-wave icons ESG. Each performance is simply an unmissable event.

Support comes from Galaxians, Leeds’ very own 1980s New York boogie-influenced drums and synths duo.

October 23, 8pm. Headrow House. Tickets £8.

Darkstar

Darkstar’s 2013 album 'News From Nowhere' was recorded in Leeds by renowned producer Richard Formby, and described by The Times as 'warped psychedelic pop'.

Headrow House will host one of their UK shows following the release of new album 'Foam Island' in September.  The album features interviews conducted by the band throughout West Yorkshire, expressing the political disenfranchisement amongst the area’s youth.  Check out the excellent video for new track ‘Pin Secure’ above.

October 29, 8pm. Headrow House. Tickets £10.

Factory Floor

Three-piece Factory Floor are variously described as ‘post industrial’ (NME), ‘synth-noir’ (The Guardian) and ‘unsettling disco’ (The Quietus). Either way, it’s damn sweet and danceable. Expect stripped-back proto-house beats relentlessly driving the beat forward with nods to early Derrick May-era Detroit techno

November 28, 9pm. Headrow House. Tickets £11.

Beacons x DIY

There will also be a series of Beacons x DIY events at Headrow House in conjunction with DIY Magazine. The lineup is as follows:

October 5: Nai Harvest, Bloody Knees, Abattoir Blues, Forever Cult

October 16: Girls Names, Feature, Fehm, Chaika

October 20: Best Friends, Hannah Lou Clark, Beverly, The Orielles,

November 13: Tough Love, Fake Laugh, Lazy Day, Finnmark

Beacons x DIY, various times. Headrow House. Free entry.
