Housed in an impressive grade II-listed building opposite the imposing town hall, Mr Foley’s Cask Ale House is an eye-catching location for relaxed city drinking and one that any self-respecting ale enthusiast should make a bee-line to.
A dazzling row of 10 hand-pulls line the bar and dispense a range of award-winning York beers alongside guest ales from all over the country – great to pop in and enjoy, or stay for longer and sample the drinks with a meal of well-done pub grub. There is also a notable choice of continental bottled beers, lagers and malt whiskies to explore as well.
A very central location means that it can become heaving at the weekend, but the atmosphere is always friendly and it’s large enough to usually be able to find a seat.
